Olympics and Olympics are not the same
Although it is very common to confuse Olympic Games and Olympics because they are two related terms they are not the same, we will explain the difference.
Olympic Games
The Olympic Games refer to the different sporting events that are held every 4 years and in which athletes from all over the world participate.
Olympics
The Olympics or Olympics period refers to the interval of time between some Olympic Games and others.
The non-celebration of the Olympic Games does not prevent the number of Olympics from being counted. With the celebration of Rio 2016, there are 28 Olympic Games played and 31 Olympics held.
The Rae Dictionary admits that the word ‘Olympiad’ is used as a synonym for Olympic Games.
